Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?

I'd probably say religious type of books. It's not that I have anything against religion, I just find a lot of them to be a bit preachy and forceful at times. I also find them to be unrealistic a lot of the time. Things just magically seem to work out in the story lines I've come across. However, I am okay with reading spiritual books as long as they have a decent story and aren't making me feel inferior for my beliefs.

  1. No person or book should ever make you feel inferior about your beliefs so I definitely agree with you! I don't read any religiously preachy books either, but I have read a few historical fiction books that were in the religious section of the book store (lol). They aren't my favorite, but were good for a fast sweet read.

I agree, religious books can be a little forcefull. I enjoy some, but only when I WANT to read it. I find when I'm forced to read something religious at school I can't enjoy it.

  7. Hopping through. I'm with you on religious books. I don't mind them if they're not preachy though.

  8. I agree! Most seem to be so preachy or black-and-white that it turns me off from giving it a chance. If it can be interesting, informative and not at all pushy about the religion/beliefs it's discussing, then I'm definitely open for that!
